Coffee Prince Eps 1 & 2

I watched both eps in one go today, because last Thursday I thought I'd just leave it til Sunday, and then I worked Sunday and didn't watch it, and then had today off instead of tomorrow so figured since it was Coffee Prince day anyway I could catch up!
Well, I am kind of glad I read the comments in
dorama_watch because a few people said it was really the second episode when they got hooked. If this show didn't have such a reputation behind it I may not have sat all the way through this first episode. I don't even like Han Kyul, but I suspect it's going to be a drama in which he is magically changed because he falls in love?
The best scene in the entire thing was with Eun Chan and the music guy (Han Kyul's brother?) whose name I haven't picked up on yet outside the wine bar. "Oh, you're my dog's girlfriend!" "Your dog is a boy? I thought it was a girl!" "What is that you're holding?" "Bubblewrap! Great fun, want?!"
I swear, if I'd only seen the one episode, I would ship them. What's wrong with instant chemistry, why does everyone have to hate each other or bargain with each other just to throw them into stupid situations wherein they develop feelings for each other?
And why all of a sudden is Han Kyul saying, "I don't even know if you're a boy or a girl?" - did he not just assume she was a boy and that was that? WHY ARE WE ONLY NOW CONFUSED?
p.s - LOTS OF SUPER PRETTY WOMEN, A+! (Even when Eun Chan pulled this shocked face, I was all, "yeah, that's cute, I want to make her pull that face" XD)
OH LOOK THEY'RE BEING CUTE AGAIN!
...I'm sorry, I'm supposed to be here for the Han Kyul/Eun Chan, right? Whoopsie?
NO WAIT, I think they are trying to make me ship it! Hello, wiping food from someone's mouth is classic romance 101! ...Or parenting 101, whatever.
Oh well, I'm glad Han Sung got to say what he wanted to say to Yoo Ju, and I agreed with all of it (I was absolutely aghast that he gave in and took her inside, though I understand. Heart over head!), but it is sad that he was looking to see if she would put up a fight and stay, but she accepted his words and left. Sometimes the words people use don't leave you much choice.
AHAHAHA SHE JUST LEFT HIM TO GET BEATEN UP WITH A HANDBAG.
*headdesk* ...seriously, is this a TV show maker thing? That they believe all girls have to be innocent and kiss-free and "pure" or something until THE ONE comes along during the course of their show? GIRLS ARE ALLOWED TO DATE YOU KNOW. FREELY. NOT EVERYONE HAS TO BE THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. Oh I am so sick of people having their "first kiss" stolen. I refuse to believe it is so easy to jump someone with a kiss. It's just not, people. It's not.
And that's totally a girl's butt in those trousers, the lovely hippy-roundness of it, you can tell just by that run. I can judge gender by asses! XD
OUCH! I would not like to have to act unconscious with someone slapping me in the forehead!
How stupid is this man? "It's a big fish? It kind of looks like a person actually, but if he's dead, I can store him in my freezer for you! Nobody would think to blame you if he's on my property!"
LOL, the kids started stripping him. Man, little girls (and boys of course!) learn quickly these days XD And I love that little chunk, he is so cute.
Aw, face masks of love. And hairclips of love! I'm so much more invested in the secondary couple than the main one right now!

Date: 2009-08-16 05:07 am (UTC)Episode 1 so didn't draw me in and episode 2 didn't either - I'm kind of wondering if I want to continue to watch. It's kind of disappointing knowing that Eun Chan and Han Kyul will end up together (if only they didn't. sigh. or if I didn't know that fact!)
What do you think of Eun Chan so far? I like her spunk and my heart will always go out to the characters who have given up stuff for the family.
You really can tell that she's a girl in those trousers she wears and her hippy-roundness (I like the image though! Women in mens suits is just hot.)
Some of the scenes are really amusing; especially the interaction between various secondary characters and the main characters. I'll probably keep watching for that, but if it weren't for that, I wouldn't.

Date: 2009-08-16 11:14 am (UTC)I am holding onto the hope that Han Kyul will turn into someone likable and I will understand what brings the two of them together (though I can't say I see that about a lot of couples in tv or real life!), but I will definitely mourn Han Sung and Eun Chan's missed opportunity to walk that huge sheepdog together and pop bubble wrap like crazy and then Han Sung could get over the very pretty but emotionally fucked up Yoo Ju.
I quite like Eun Chan so far - do you not think a lot of these girls have that sort of Sujini-ness to them? It must be a Korean thing to make their women that way, because it was what put me off of 'Boys Over Flowers' immediately - thinking this girl was trying to be Sujini and doing it wrong. Better than most Japanese female characters though :x
We;ll give it a chance together and hopefully our opinions will only get better!
