updates on what I've been up to
Sep. 12th, 2010 03:55 pmI forget sometimes how quiet it can get on LJ at the weekends XD I've been logged into my fic journal since sometime last night and I've come back to the check my flist here and there's only about five new posts. At least I wasn't missing anything!
Except the US Open Final line-up post - I opened it hoping to see Nadal's name and then just gaped when I didn't see Federer! I'm utterly a Nadal girl and would've been rooting for him, but I do so love to see them play one another. I'll never forget Wimbledon 2008. And I think it really would've proven something should Nadal have gotten to face Federer and than beaten him on the hardcourt. I don't dislike Djokovic; I don't anything him XD I just want Rafa to complete his Slam collection with a US Open. VAMOS RAFA. I want this to be his time.
So, fic-journal, I spent hours and hours and hours and HOURS (I eventually went to bed at 2:30am with more to do upon waking again) re-titling the posts. Why the hell did I do the numbered thing on a fic journal anyway? Being pretentious? I mean even I didn't know what the post was from the title! And I put a new layout up so I'd have the tags list on my layout; for my ease of access when I want to find stuff. I've also posted and backdated a bunch of things that were strewn across other journals and communities in an attempt to get everything centralized. I'm happy; I just wish I didn't have such a huge Prince of Tennis fic masterlist in a way because it's getting unwieldy and too much to look at. Although I realise it doesn't seem so much because some of it is locked to only me or only me and Cyn! (We have little universes we play in that nobody else would be interested in XD). I have posted lots this year though, I know it if nobody else does ;D
I also worked out a week or so ago what to use my Dreamwidth journal for; I've posted up a list of (Asian) dramas, animes and movies I've seen and am using it for liveblogging. Wang Qiu Wang Zi Season Two currently. And my allegiance is firmly with Li Hai Da (Rikkai) because I adore them, and it's going to be difficult to watch the end! (It's been hard enough already! XD). I love liveblogging; all the ridiculous instant reactions and capslocking I do is insane, but fun :D
I'm also working on a fic at the moment which is going to be the longest one-shot I've ever managed to finish (and I'm damn confident at this point that I am going to finish it!). It's over 15K right now, and that's a lot for me. That's probably twice what I've ever managed before now. So I'm proud of myself ...Even if it is a hooker!au XD
Almost only two weeks til holiday too! Wow I'm chirpy today ;)

almost a to-do/done-did list
Aug. 20th, 2010 12:14 pmI have replied to three emails this morning; to Nat, Cathryn and Gem, and I'm all proud of myself! I absolutely suck at replying to emails unless I do it right away or I make time to sit and concentrate on it. Don't ask me why - I do love to ramble after all ;)
And if that whole three emails makes me sound popular, I promise you I'm really not. BUT if I went around trying to communicate with all of you guys through emails I'd suck at it anyway so apparently it's okay! ;)
I still need to upload pics of the place. It's just that we've rearranged the dining room(/library because there's no dining table but there are bookshelves :D) and I haven't taken pictures of it and I don't want an incomplete set of pictures or something. I keep pictures of places I've lived for nostalgia purposes!
I also have a few icons to upload. I'll do that now actually! eta; NU ABO icons
Has anyone across the pond been watching Rizzoli and Isles? It's based on a series of crime novels by Tess Gerritsen, whose books my mum reads, but she's never actually read this series (she actually owns all the books in the series but has been reading a different author recently instead). The series also stars Angie Harmon (from Law and Order, which we've both watched) and Sasha Alexander (from NCIS which we've both watched) and it caught my attention because of all the femmslash fic on![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
femslash_today, so I believe it could be relevent to my interests ;D
Someone did a post about the "Top 5 Fanfics that you Love to Re-read", and I think it'd make an awesome meme because it isn't absolute favourites or best-written (not that they couldn't be both or all three!), but almost like comfort food for fics, so if anyone wants to share their choices I would be interested :D And if I can work out my own I might even do it!

Jun. 7th, 2007 12:08 pmI know I'm getting older because suddenly loads of people I know are having babies. Well, by association most of them. Louise's sister, Natalie's twin sister, Sue, Laura... Nearly all girls too, actually, except Sue who had twins and got a boy and a girl.

I just realised today that there's 3 days left until my birthday, BUT only two of them are going to be days we receive post coz my birthday is on Sunday, and I still haven't had one card through the post yet. That really kind of sucks. I've got one sitting on the counter from mum and dad (mum was so proud of herself for remembering to buy me a card since she always forgets), and nan and grandad I'll see on Sunday so I'll get it then, but there's my grandad, my uncle, my cousin, possibly my aunt. I suppose since Gemma's down here this week she'll have gotten me a card. I do keep up and send her one each year still. And my aunt and uncle who live down the road will probably post mine in the door on Sunday like they did with my mum's. So rude, but then I don't want to make small talk with them anyway.
But still, two days left and no cards yet, woe :(

The kittens are still cute, a little naughty but considering I've got two little boys they aren't bad at all. Though Todd today decided to play with the furry cushions on the sofa and uhm, well, it looked like he was suckling on one. I blame myself; I treated them with a little dish of milk. Obviously reminded him of his mommee.

I've made a tiny bit of progress writing. If I can just keep my head down and plod along who knows, it might even get finished sometime this century ;)

I need to think of other things I can do today. Maybe find some prompt themes for next month. And maybe think of some more future possiblities for themes fordrabble_rikkai. I already did my part for prompts for this round ;)
And Cyn, maybe we can try a drabble exchange thing at some point? I mean, how hard can 100-500 words be? :x
