happy birthday to me

Went shopping in Colchester with my grandparents today for my birthday. Didn't buy MUCH, but did buy SOME stuff so it was an improvement ;) I'm now going to hop over to amazon.com and order lots of stuff to use up the money my grandparents gave me for my birthday. I got eleven pairs of new earrings (ELEVEN - and that was just from mum), two boxes of chocolates XD, new bras, pjs, two pairs of new shoes including the ones from the girls at work. And a singing balloon. My god it's annoying. And cost £12 apparently. (People are nuts! £12 for a BALLOON! IT WILL DEFLATE SOON!)

But I got a book for 30p today, just because I know someone on my flist mentioned the author, and for 30p how could I resist? ;) And the first volume of Fables, which amazon keeps saying is "currently unavailable" but now I can get the rest. Oh, got about four new DS games too!

That's all I have to report. My day off is tomorrow and I actually have to do the housework ;) And I'm hoping to finish this Gokusen thing I started writing for shutupanddoeet and possibly, possibly some D1 for the Porn Battle, but don't count on it getting on there before the time is up :x If I manage either they'll both turn up in fsop anyway!

What book and what games? :D

Okay, I picked out "Mystery Stories" for the girls from work to give me, mum bought me "Challenge Me: Maths Workout" and "Challenge Me: Brain Puzzles" (as well as the actual DS and the first few games I bought last month XD) and nan and grandad got me "Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars". I had a Broken Sword game back on the PS1 XD

The 30p book was by Tamora Pierce; known for YA fantasy, I believe. Of course this one is based upon the daughter of a bigger character so I may have to find those first! And I also got "Moab is my Washpot" by Stephen Fry which I'm really enjoying so far , nearly 200 pages in.

You'll have to let me know how "Broken Sword" is. :D And if you ever want to move beyond puzzle games, let me know. I'll have some suggestions for you!

Good luck finding out the other books that are connected to that one; I hope you can find them, and for fairly cheap (or maybe the library will have them). And yay for good books!

Broken Sword is going to be just as evil as Professor Layton (I got an email saying there's a new PL game coming out :) ) - one of the first puzzles to solve is the one where you have blocks barring the way and you can only move them in certain directions to make a path for YOUR piece, yeah? Urgh. Mum sat mucking about with the pieces until I could see a way through.
