The Return of Iljimae, EPs 5-6

Iljimae is shaping up to be the most unlucky and tortured soul in a drama ever, mentally. He's too good of a fighter to actually get harmed physically ;) But seriously. MOST TORTURED CHARACTER. EVER. His misfortunes go off the scale of all possible bad things that could ever happen ever. (Thank god he looks so pretty while suffering).

- The Return of Iljimae, Episode 5: They wasted a LOT of time recapping what has happened up until now at the beginning of this episode. (If we didn't already know that little recap wouldn't espcially help, and why would we start watching at episode five anyway?)
Okay let's talk about the absolutely symbolic moment here of Iljimae being handed over the ginseng very carefully and proudly, as though he is being handed his newborn child (BECAUSE last episode when we saw Baek Mae she smiled as she told herself the ginseng looks like a child). And obviously all this ginseng has a purpose. Connecting Iljimae to Baek Mae in the future?
What the hell are they arresting Iljimae for? Officer Gu wants to reunite him with his mother! (But he doesn't even KNOW where she is, so it's a poorly thought out plan!)
And now Officer Gu even knows Kang Sae-Wook, Dal-Yi's father... And Dal-Yi isn't his daughter?! Ah, he saved her life, she would've been killed for her father being a traitor. And still will be now? :x What a stupid law. Officer Gu is just fabulous at ruining everyone's lives by bringing up past history. It's horrible when trying to live by the law (and enforce it) means innocent people suffer. This is sure to turn Iljimae against him.
This is where Cha-Dol and Seon-Dal meet then. Being scammed utterly XD lol, I wonder if his enterprise impresses Seon-Dal like Iljimae's athleticism did? ;)
The police can't even catch a little street urchin like Cha-Dol, they really are rubbish.
Poor Dal. Although Sae-Wook made it sound like she knew exactly what was coming (we don't know how old she was when Sae-Wook saved her from execution in the first place).
It's so annoying to me right now that this scene isn't working for me. Nothing wrong with it, I just haven't been able to believe in the relationship developed between Iljimae and Dal. We haven't seen enough, we haven't seen them do much together except everyday tasks with Sae-Wook and watch the moon together. I don't feel I believe where his depth of feeling is coming from.
She does this moment beautifully, however, which helps. The final goodbye, perhaps that smile that accepts she can go, she makes peace with it, because at least she found Iljimae before she died.
This montage is not going to help me believe their love. It should've been BEFORE the beheading, too, for maximum impact. Take note, writers. (I hate montages). Okay that was a new brief moment where she was topless, that suggests they did sleep together at least. Because all we saw onscreen was the one first kiss. (TOO MUCH TELLING, NOT ENOUGH SHOWING). If they'd skipped out all that beginning time-jump crap they could've had an extra episode to incorporate and flesh out Iljimae and Dal's love. I should've had tears at that scene and I didn't.
By the way the monk who took Iljimae away to safety was at the execution. Another person who knows he is here and could possibly help.
LOL, Iljimae is losing it and Seon-Dal is spectating like a huge fan because he uses that sword method of fighting which Seon-Dal admires! It's pretty cute in its way. He's become quite the terror of the town :x Where are those police when they actually have a legitmate reason to arrest him?
SEON-DAL IS STILL FOLLOWING HIM. FANBOY.
Dear narrator, your foreshadowing of events is not helpful and mysterious, it is annoying. Now I know what's going to happen (AGAIN) when I would've figured it out by WATCHING IT HAPPEN.
Oh jeeze, could life get any worse for Iljimae? Now he's going to be framed for murder!
(This manhwa writer really LOVED torturing their main character. Next we need him all beaten and bloodied, are you hearing me? ;D)
Amazing how one man suggesting it makes it true, when nobody saw him and he never even touched the body (and we know he was framed!)
Go Seon-Dal! You tell them the truth, Iljimae fights with his hands. No knife stabbing.
"Arrest Iljimae!" This will only be about the fourth time in four episodes ;D Boy can't even grieve in peace!
HE JUST THREW A ROOF TILE AND I JUST GASPED OUT LOUD XD
Holy hell why does she look like Dal-Yi? SECRET TWIN?! Way to creep Wol-Hee out, Iljimae. Whispering and muttering about a dead girl ;D
LOL she knows something is going on, she's got him in her room! Hehehehe, yes I can imagine Dal wasn't shy about nakedness at all ;) She's practically ruined poor Iljimae for those shy noblewomen.
Funny how these girls play it so cool and yet they all want to help a pretty boy! (Although coming on too strong is unseemly I guess, unless you're Dal :D)
Oh Iljimae <3 ANGST YOUR LITTLE HEART OUT. EVERYONE YOU LOVE GETS HURT OR KILLED. PUSH EVERYONE AWAY.
Is this it? Is this the point where he disappears for years? What happens to him during that time, will we know? :x What takes him from crazy with grief and disillusioned to fighting for justice? Will he get back on the path to finding his mother ever again?
IS THAT THE MONK?
That woke him up ;)
It is not going to be so easy! Surely? GO ILJIMAE, HURRY UP. Is this a graveyard? We know she isn't dead! Did she fake it? Oh I'm about as guillable as Iljimae, but I wouldn't have climbed in.
PREVIEWS SAY HE MEETS GEOL CHI! And gets into yet more trouble! Holy crap, Iljimae.

- The Return of Iljimae, Episode 6: Goddamn you Iljimae for being so pretty when defeated. I could actually watch you wallow in misery for the whole hour of this episode.
LOL CHA-DOL <3 Although between him and Seon-Dal they are a great double act :D
I SAID he'd be impressed by this kid in the end! Seon-Dal is so amusing, it's amazing he managed to knuckle down eough to keep record of Iljimae's actions without getting distracted by something new.
So Cha-Dol isn't just a street urchin with no parents, he's being used by his father to earn money so daddy can gamble it all away! Seon-Dal has suddenly become this kid's biggest sympathizer XD Oho! Gonna get daddy and his friends arrested and swoop in and offer Cha-Dol a safe place to stay? :D
Thank God Su-Ryeon isn't completely useless like most of the male police are ;D
HAHA Cha-Dol is still too quick for him after all!
Iljimae angsts in a different position. I am still enthralled. Iljimae meditates. I stare.
Plum blossoms <3
OMG YOU'VE PRACTICALLY BRAINWASHED HIM TOO. You wonderfully awful monk! <3 I LOVE YOU.
AND NOW ILJIMAE IS ACTUALLY RELUCTANT TO GET UP AND OUT OF THERE. STOCKHOLM SO MUCH.
Hehe, quiet doesn't mean weak XD You go Wol-Hee!
Ah, I thought that when we shifted to Wol-Hee after Iljimae said there was someone he had to see that it meant her, but I did think it was a little odd. He did thank her already at the time of her aiding him, and he has got other things in his life that should be priority now. He needs a purpose, he needs to find someone who loves him (like his mother, or Geol Chi) to give him a little faith and hope again.
HOW COULD THAT DUDE THROW A BLADE INTO THE BACK OF A CHILD?! I mean, I know he survives (and is a thief, a swindler, and allsorts), but JEEZE.
Seon-Dal is such a FANBOY. First Iljimae, and now Cha-Dol! He is so concerned for this naughty child. And he's going to take care of Cha-Dol! I knew it would happen :D
Officer Gu is the biggest pushover to ever get pushed EVER. He's so sweet, how on earth does he uphold the nasty consequences of breaking the laws? XD
YES ILJIMAE WENT TO FIND GEOL CHI, HE DID HE DID. I AM SO GLAD THIS WAS HIS PRIORITY. I AM ABOUT TO EXPLODE WITH JOY. OMFG ILJIMAE IS SO FUCKING HAPPY AND HE DOESN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE MAN! OMG THIS IS ACTUALLY GOING TO MAKE ME CRY.

THEIR REUNION WAS BEAUTIFUL. HE HUGGED HIM AND CRIED AND CALLED HIM HIS BABY. AND ILJIMAE WAS ABOUT TO CRY. NOBODY HAS EVER LOVED HIM SO FIERCELY LIKE THAT JUST FOR BEING HIM <3
Oh Iljimae, your existence makes this man so happy. How wonderful. "That smile of yours is exactly the same!" (as when he was a baby). SUCH LIES BUT *SO CUTE* <3
Urgh, Officer Gu just sits there and accepts that sucky things might have to happen, Su-Ryeon rattles off the literal state of adoption which is just children being taken in to become slaves. YOUR MORALS ARE WRONG, OFFICER GU. Fucking hell Iljimae hurry up and save the world <3
AHAHAHAHA oh this episode has been so amazing. Cha-Dol and Seon-Dal's partnership origins, Iljimae and Geol-Chi being reunited.
All the girls of the village are after Iljimae again! AHAHAHA OMG THAT ONE IS FUCKING BATSHIT. "I'd love to chop off his head with a boning knife and put it on my own neck. but if I cut off my head I'd be dead. So I can't do that." It's the fact that she's so specific about wha she'd use! And that the issue here is that she'd be dead, not that she'd be killing someone else XD
OMG CRAZY BITCH IS TELLING TALES! ...Iljimae didn't kill her, so who did? WHY DOES EVERYONE IN THIS SHOW BELIEVE STORIES WHEN NOBODY BUT ONE LIAR EVER SAW ANYTHING HAPPEN?!
...At least they haven't killed him outright? :x OMFG THAT'S THE ILJIMAE I KNOW AND LOVE. He sounds more noble again, more confident in himself, and a tiny bit sure he is better than everyone else XD
I think somehow living this simple, contented existence has helped Iljimae grow into himself again, and mature a little with it.
omg that was the wrong thing to say. Now Iljimae feels like it's his fault the girl was killed. "Everyone close to me gets hurt" all over again. Just because she liked him. He wasn't interested back.
Geol Chi's simple logic is best <3 The bad people who did the things are responsible, not you Iljimae. But he won't listen.
A STORM? Seriously, does this boy have a bad luck target on his back or what? Can we possibly do more to make Iljimae suffer? It's worse than SHAKESPEARE.
WHO IS THAT WOMAN TRAINING ILJIMAE? IS SHE AWESOME, OR IS SHE AWESOME? FIND OUT NEXT EPISODE!
