My Prince, EPs 11-12

emothyMy Prince is a Chinese drama set around a family of five - a mother and her four sons (presumably in their twenties). Their mother has brought them up alone, but she's a bit of a screw-up, though she loves them a lot. All she wants for her sons is for them to marry rich girls and supposedly then they will have good lives and no worries.
A drama set around romance and relationships isn't my usual choice, but it stars a lot of the actors who were in Wang Qiu Wang Zi (all minor part characters, none of them part of the main team, Seigaku - Qing Xue as they were named in the CDrama), so I persuaded myself to give it a go. So far I'm ten episodes in, and I've discovered a drama that doesn't take itself too seriously and yet amidst all the silliness there's real heart. The family dynamic between all of them is adorable, and you can see the difference between any two of them in the way they are towards one another. And though some of the romance feels rushed in this short series, there are moments that have really pulled the heart strings for me, and female characters that manage to be awesome even when they're doing things that would normally annoy - being upset and confused and unable to choose between two guys, or trying to learn how to be less clumsy and more 'feminine' to catch a guy's attention (hahaha).
I watched the episodes while away visiting family, and had nowhere to sit and put my initial response to each episode, so I'm only going to liveblog as I finish the series up to episode sixteen.
- My Prince, Episode 11: God, I love this show shamelessly. I don't care if the words they use get over the top or trite. There's such a huge emphasis on the family relationships, and the way their mother talks just proves a woman doesn't need a man - to her a relationship could never satify her the way her family loves and supports her, all her boys. And she's passing that wisdom onto this young, pregnant girl they've taken in for Zhi Xiao's sake.
I'm sorry, Zhi Kai, you may be the only one of your brothers in a relationship but you are still not authorized to give advice XD It's just hilarious the way they all are together.
OMG SO DORKY. I haven't even mentioned all the nakedness I'm so won over by this. LOL proposing to his brother to show him how. Zhi Kai, so dignified, you're going to have to lose that trait to get married ;D AHAHAHA THE BABY BROTHERS ARE WATCHING THEIR OLDER BROTHERS AND THEIR UTTER FAIL. SO ARE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE XD
Oh God, so hot in that suit. "The aura of a model" XD It's called plain hot.
Zhi Wen, you dog <3 Telling your brother how useless his attitude is to marriage, how unlucky Ai Fan will be to have him, then helping him plot and plan the whole time, buying an outfit for him to wear for her <3 ...He really is proposing to her at home. I want to feel awful for her not having a romantic meal but omg FAMILY LOVE. Everyone is there for this moment <3 LOL and they have to help Zhi Kai, he's so useless. THAT WAS NOT A PROPOSAL. WELL DONE MOMMA! OMG THEY HAD TO DO IT FOR HIM OMG FAMILY LOOOOVEE. How fricking cute. How can a girl say no to that hotass looking so wide-eyed and hopeful?
That's on the WRONG FINGER AND THE WRONG HAND, AI FAN. Oh okay, he took her out for a meal afterwards, that's good.
Oh you sweetheart. All Zhi Xiao wants to do is make his family happy, never anything for himself. I wonder if Wen Ting is going to stick around, and if she has this baby how it will fit in. It seems she's picking up his sign language! "Our products", oh Wen Ting, you may have set up thr website and help pack the jewllery when it sells, but you didn't MAKE any of it XD
DON'T TRUST HIM. Who the hell sells products online and doesn't get payment first? And who scams for handmade jewellery, it isn't a famous make!
For all she makes out money will save her sons, this woman really doesn't care about money at all. She doesn't want it for herself. She's equating them marrying rich women with getting happiness, and yet for herself she knows she can be happy without. She so funny, and loveable. And that's so true what she just said - she wants her sons to marry well and rich, and yet she wanted to provide her son with a house, not rely on other people's money for that.
NO DON'T FUCK UP YOUR RELATIONSHIP ZHI KAI, IGNORE THAT OLD FLAME.
- My Prince, Episode 12: Oh Zhi Kai, he wasn't avoiding you, he was heartbroken :( He told his family, this I love. There really are no secrets in this family, even if some siblings are not at all helpful ;D
DON'T LEAVE HER THERE FOR QING YU! Oh Ai Fan, go follow him or something, be sneaky to get your man! <3 But then it's true, she has got a bit of a wimpy personality XD Aw, it's true, she is one of the family - they've told her the truth. I love this show, no deceit and no lies that lead to stupid misunderstandings.
God, how awful though for your family to witness every mistake you make, no matter how small. It's not an affair, he just went to meet this stupid ex again, it's not really anything, but it hurts Ai Fan and his entire family can't help but think what an idiot he is for ever hurting her.
GO AI FAN! GET FIERCE GIRL, I LOVE IT. TELL HER NO, ZHI KAI. Urgh, just man up and say, "you expect us to get back together but I'm engaged". SAY IT. SAY IT IN FRONT OF THEM BOTH.
OMG they're engaged and he hasn't kissed her yet! ZHI KAI, MAN UP. That's better, I hope it convinced her.
LOL FAMILY INQUISITION.
Oh Wei Wei <3 So unenthusiastic, depressed. So pretty and sad and lost. God, I can only imagine the future for Wei Wei if this were to go through. "She's tired, let her rest". Han Fei seems to want a pretty ornament that does nothing. Zhi Chen always wanted for her to get tough and take decisions into her own hands. To be a real women with strength.
Urgh, I hate this. Ordering her around, and she's so trapped thinking her life has no other options that she just follows like a puppet on strings. Han Fei, if you try to force her to be happy about this you'll regret it. You thought it would be enough that you loved her, that you would do everything to make her happy, but it won't work.
...So because Han Fei is giving up Wei Wei gets out of this. I'm kind of sad, but she did try to go after Zhi Chen. He pushed her away so much she thought this was her only option. Now Han Fei is revealing the truth, I guess is what I should get from this. Now he had told her the truth she has to make a break for it and trust Zhi Chen, not let him turn her away. Fight for her man! The easy path isn't the right one. She just has so many feelings still stored up for Han Fei and he and her family took advantage of that, even though they weren't the right ones.
And we haven't neglected her friendship with Zhi Xiao <3 OH WEI WEI STOP MAKING ME CRY FOR YOU. I should dislike her, really. I think she realises she's made Zhi Chen just as unhappy as she's been made, and perhaps that makes them wrong for one another.
"I know she loves me, and I love her," but it just isn't that simple, is it :(
Oh don't flashback to that non-kiss. Lips pressed to lips for an age isn't a kiss, it's an extended peck on the lips. Not sexy.
YES ZHI XIAO. YOU TOLD HER WHERE HE WAS DIDN'T YOU. I love how she said all that stuff and yet she can't keep away <3 OH, she followed Zhi Xiao because she knew he'd go right to his brother! Sneaky.
GOOD GIRL. You needed to say these things. She made him CRY. Oh <3 She's going to be that strong woman they both know she needs to be. GO AFTER HER ZHI CHEN. Okay, I kind of knew he wouldn't, but it's okay. She really does need to be able to stand on her own, with neither of those men, and in a way she does need to prove she loves Zhi Chen whether he returns her feelings or not - he does, but refuses to act on them. He needs to know she's serious, not going to change her mind again or get stuck between him and someone else later on because she allows people to make choices for her.
