Comment with the name of a female character and I'll tell you why I love her. In return, you can do the same in your journal. (If you want to anyway!)
Okay, I'm playing. Mostly because I'm kind of interested to see who people will comment with! Because the only media I can think of that I mention a whole lot is Criminal Minds ;) But of course there are a million characters out there.

Date: 2010-01-31 04:41 pm (UTC)I love her in "Minimal Loss" when she takes the beating for being an FBI agent and does it purposely because she believes Reid can gain the unsub's trust in a way she can't because she is a woman. And takes no offence at that, and doesn't allow anyone to feel sorry for her for taking punches. And still spends that episode - bound up - desperately trying to convince the women of the church to get to safety.
I love that in "Demonology" we discover she has a difficult past, but again makes no excuses for herself other than she was young and wanted to fit in. She had a hard choice to make, and it is sometimes hinted at that she might regret having missed her chance to have a baby, but she has stood by it all her life regardless. We're allowed to see a woman who has not chosen a career of motherhood, is not completely against it and still could have a child or children, and has had an abortion but isn't EVIL. I admire her right to have chosen the way she did.
"Amplification" made me love her even harder than I already did because of one thing she said. "Is it wrong of me to want to believe that lying is never the right thing to do?". Yes, she lies in that episode. It is her job to do so. She is ordered to, for people's own protection. Panic and hysteria would cause more deaths than the anthrax scare did. She does her job and understands the logic but she doesn't like it. And that is my exact standpoint on the issue of lying too. Sometimes it is necessary, to protect people, but still some of us would like to believe there could be a time when it was never necessary.
[MINOR SEASON FIVE SPOILERS]: "The Slave of Duty" features home invasions, where the unsub attempts to create the perfect romance and the women find their best chance of survival is to play along with his scenario. This leads to one woman bathing in his presence and then sleeping with him - purposely, but clearly that is a form of rape/very dubious consent. That case visibly upsets Emily, which I think is a prime example of how much she is an advocate of woman fighting back and being capable and surviving. Of course she admires this victim for doing what she had to do to survive, but boy it pisses her off what the woman had to do for it. I believe she personally tells the unsub in this one she hopes he enjoys being a prison bitch XD
There are no doubt many other reasons but those episodes really stand out for me Emily-moments-wise :D
