emothyCould I get any more confused? I mean, sometimes I feel like we're seeing too many minor characters, and then a whole episode FLIES by and I can't believe so much has happened and yet we're not so far from before as I thought. None of this is bad, I'm just so whirlwinded and swept up and have no idea what's going on in a really good way <3
...Thank goodness for Jung Il-Woo's pretty face helping me through these emotional times ;D

- The Return of Iljimae, Episode 17: YES DUMB NARRATOR, WHEN YOU HEAR SUSPICIOUS PHRASES YOU DO KIND OF CLUE IN. Did we really need to be told? :P
When Iljimae is in his black outfit and mask you become very aware of his eyebrows since they're practically the only part of him you can see moving perceptibly xD
Guh, Jung Il-Woo stop winning me over like this. He has this special little half-smile that's completely Iljimae, it isn't used for any other character I've seen him play. It's Iljimae's own expression.
Lots of random new people in this episode so far already!

Yang-Po is watching you, Iljimae! I still love how we get all these little instances that prove he isn't this invincible being. People seek him out and find him, can fight evenly with him. He has a great collection of skills, some unusual, but I think knowing a little of everything can spread him too thin. Or maybe make him overconfident? It's nice anyway. I love how human he is.
His eyes just told a whole story there from behind that mask <3
God, is Yang-Po for good or for bad? I still can't make head nor tail of his motives.

I'm glad it never stops him remembering those who are at risk though. He may fuck up sometimes, or feel things are his fault, but he also does a lot of good for people and there's still a girl who needs his help right now.

It is going to be hard to pick a screencap for this one! The scene at officer Gu's house, the crying on the steps of the monk's temple, being all shot and bloody :x And I am just SO IMPRESSED by Jung Il-Woo's expressions sometimes. Early on I could see the child in his eyes as he played the teenaged Iljimae. This episode I have seen moments of a truly worn-down man, aged beyond his years. (If Fitz were to be cast Asian I think I'd have my choice now! XD)

He practically begs for punishment by being so accepting of it. HE IS NOT WILD OR CRAZY. He was full of grief, EVERY TIME. He has a dark side, but it's so understandable, and he works so hard to do right, not to balance the scales, but because it is right!

I don't think I've ever seen a show make such mileage out of someone who should've disappeared after the first few episodes xD He really hasn't got anything to do with Iljimae anymore, and he's all comic relief and side-kicky rather than the Big Bad who Iljimae needs a final showdown with and just can't ever meet. I guess it shows that other characters can continue to exist outside of Iljimae's direct influence? ;)
YES, who is Yang-Po? Influencial enough to spy for Qing (I suspect), not so much that Hweng-Bo has any idea who he is (the very best are the best kept secrets XD).

I love the contrast in that moment between when he last saw Seon-Dal and Cha-Dol, because he was totally bitter and empty, and now he smiles to see them. And Seon-Dal gets to meet Iljimae up close and have a conversation for the first time! And admires his prettiness XD (He did that once before when Iljimae was masquerading as gisaeng though XD) CHA-DOL IS TRYING ON ILJIMAE'S HAT. It's not even a special hat, just a REGULAR HAT XD lol
Kim Ja-Jeom is finally coming to Iljimae's attention. I like how he's not insanely evil, but has been in the background constantly trying to manipulate things for his own gains. I love how in this show nobody is pure evil and even Iljimae isn't a perfect hero. Kim Ja-Jeom isn't a Big Bad, either, but he is a pain in the NECK.
(AND HOW CUTE IS WOL-HEE'S RESTORED FAITH IN ILJIMAE? "He'll get me out of here even if it's made of steel").
