song rambling meme and nicky dress omg
Jul. 18th, 2005 12:46 pmCynthia told me to do thirty, but I got bored after seventeen. And I didn't do the meme properly, I just rambled about the songs *haloshine*
load up all your mp3 files in winamp, hit randomize, and list the first15 30 songs on the list, then justify your reason for having that particular song.
1_ Angelfish - You Can Love Her ( The band Shirley Manson sang vocals for before Garbage. I think someone uploaded a song to
sharemusic and I liked that, so I downloaded a couple more recently. )
2_ Mozart - Flute Concerto No. 1 In G Major K. 313 - Rondo ( I like classical music, the end! And well, it's the flute, it's all light and pretty! )
3_ Radiohead - How To Disappear Completely ( Radiohead are amazing and everyone should love them and have them on their playlist. This song is so melancholy and has this sort of hauntingness to it, and the constant denial running through the lyrics, i'm not here, this isn't happening. Le sigh. )
4_ Kill Hannah - 10 More Minutes With You ( I got told to check KH out and this is one of their songs that sticks in my mind more than others by them. )
5_ Blur - There's No Other Way ( I had to listen to it on it's own after I heard the mash up with this song and Kasabian's Lost Souls Forever... I like the mash-up a lot more. The layering of Kasabian lyrics over it gives it that something extra. )
6_ Garbage - You Look So Fine ( Mmm Shirley has a sexy voice you know. But ahem this song starts out with that sound like it belongs in the theme tune to some show set in a hospital, and there are lyrics that are so matter-of-fact and yet she sings them in such a melancholy way and it still works, especially at the end. )
7_ Smoke City - Underwater Love ( I found this again! Like ten years ago I saw it on TV and for some reason I've always thought Bjork sung it (the singer sounds nothing like her but the style is believable, and the memory distorts things). But yeah somehow I came across it again and still like it so I kept it. It's a chillout kind of song, to me. And I like the repeating after the rain comes sun, after the sun comes rain again part. )
8_ Radiohead - You ( MmmmRadiohead. This is from their first album though, not one I listen to often, so I don't know this song so well. It's more rocky than I think of them, but it's their early stuff so you know. It's pretty catchy but not a favourite of mine. )
9_ Linkin Park - Don't Stay ( From Meteora, I don't care what anyone else thinks of Linkin Park because they became so big and popular and teenies wear their hoodies, the whole album this is from has inspired me to write many times. Makes me feel so creative when I listen to it after a break from it for a while. This song isn't a favourite from the album, and when I heard it I was surprised at the new sound at first, but I do like it. )
10_ Incubus - Are You In? ( Incubus are wonderful, and this is from my favourite album of theirs, Morning View. They have such a chilled groovy sound and amazing, amazing lyrics across the whole album, and this is definitely a totally chilled out and peaceful song. I love Brandon's voice and the way he uses it, right down to the 'ooooh ooooh's in this song! )
11_ Funeral For A Friend - Bullet Theory ( It's bad that I couldn't even remember which FFAF song this was before listening, isn't it? I bought their album but I don't listen to it much. I like the music in the song a lot, and the singing part in the chorus that isn't screamy. Not a fan of many screamy sounds. I do think though this song might grow on me after a few listens, if I give it a chance!)
12_ Depeche Mode - It's No Good ( Well what can I say, this song is typical Depeche Mode! Soft, catchy, lingering. Not one of my favourites, but just what I've come to expect from them since I started listening. )
13_ 3 Doors Down - I Feel You ( Hmmm I'd say this a sort of average maybe a little better than average example of 3 Doors Down's music. Nothing special or stand-out, but it's not bad. Just, you know, average.)
14_ Darvoset - Pop Puppet ( So Cynthia uploaded a Darvoset song to get people to hear them, since they're a pretty unknown band, and I liked the song she sent me so much that I went and downloaded everything I could get my hands on from their site! 'm getting so repetitive but it's yet another one that isn't favourite of mine but is an average example of what Darvoset's sound is like. )
15_ VNV Nation - Rubicon ( Oh this song is not good for a bad mood because the lyrics just speak to you. I got a little addicted to it once and sat reading over the lyrics miserably. Another average example, not one of the best they've got in my opinion. )
16_ Placebo - Running Up That Hill ( I've seen a lot of covers of this song around, I don't even know who sang the original. I have this cover and another one, and this one I appreciate for it's slow-pacing heart-beat rhythm and the way Brian's voice really haunts it, because the other version I have is very much the opposite! I really enjoy the contrasts)
17_ Garbage - Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go) ( Oh this song is wonderful, so catchy and Shirley has this way of bouncing her voice between almost innocent sounding, and sultry and sexy. And it makes me think of very pretty gay boys in drag so that makes it a total winner! If you can listen to it without turning it up high and singing along then, well... You're weird ;))
What I reeeeeeeeally was inspired to update for is this picture I just came across in the Manics photo book Kimmi sent me coz OMG. Nicky in this long see-through blue sort of army-print dress... OMG.
The Richey pictures really make me sad, though. Especially the one with his parents.
And le sigh I feel like taking a break from YCML because no-one comments it anymore and I'm just not that enthused to work on it therefore. Yes I'm a brat, but when it comes to chaptered things you really start needing that motivation to work on them! I can write short things for myself, but to bother going any further with something lengthy, you like to know it has an interest and a following.
