Character Fantasies
So, I was just thinking (because I am NOT WRITING, LJ you fucker) and reading some meta (there's been lots of genderswap meta recently, which is great because next month is genderswap month and it helps me reassure myself that armed with meta I won't write awful fic ;) ), and I was reading a discussion on writing slash vs. writing het (or femmeslash) and whether it changes the way you write at all, or the attitude you bring to the story.
I know from Cyn's point of view, when it's femmeslash she writes a whole lot more porn ;) I think I do too, actually, though I write femmeslash more rarely. (Oh Eve/Gwen, I reread something with you in it last night and I kind of miss you, you know).
Then I read this part;
I know that I definitely wanted to include some aspects of female-embodiment that often get left out in mainstream depictions (e.g. that more than half of all women can't reach orgasm from penetration alone, that rushing into intercourse can be uncomfortable, that reaching orgasm isn't always easy even if you are having smokin' hot sex).
And my mind went off on it's tangent and I was thinking the usual about how I feel sorry for women who seem to have so much trouble having an orgasm (really, I pity you, I do), and other stuff (oh why am I so reluctant to share? Because I don't think you guys wana hear it!) and BASICALLY (this is a basic explanation you say?) I was thinking about fantasies, and how obviously we all discuss them (and WRITE THEM) so often, and yet I haven't really read much fic wherein the characters fantasies are touched upon. I mean deeper than "I want to shag character x so I'm going to imagine that now since we're not doing it". Kinks that maybe they wouldn't even enjoy in action but when fantasizing harmlessly about, become a real turn on.
So, the bottom line is, if I join a fic exchange sometime soon, I won't have the usual trouble of not knowing what to request ;) I want fantasizing! I want characters with some sexual identity that does not revolve around someone else exclusively or who bloody tops and who bottoms.
Switching is best. Equal opportunities are hot.

Writing slashy porn is awkward for me, and I think it's because I feel more comfortable with femmeslash (or to some extent, het, just because it's easier) and I know that changes a lot of things. I write more porn and it flows better and there's less of an awkward feel it to all. But posting it is different; I feel like it's going to be seen as an extension of my own fantasies (and somewhat Mary-Sue for that) rather than something to be taken on it's own. That's why I'll probably not advertise any of my genderswap to anyone. :x
But touching upon character fantasies would be fun! :D The deeper kinks, the bigger drives, the things they think about when masturbating. And more than the "I want to shag character x" stuff, like you pointed out. But the subversive things and the innocent things and the ideas that make you giggle and the random sexual thoughts that hit upon them throughout the day. Fantasizing would be nice to read.
(On another note. I love to write femmeslash, even if it's not porn, and I love femmeslashy porn without a doubt. Sex is awkward for me to write no matter what, but it's a lot easier to see the porn in my head and to find decent words for it [I think a big part of my reluntance to write porn is the wording :x]. I wish there were more chances for me to write femmeslash so I could explore more of it. And I think I write so much porn for the femmeslash because I write so little of it and want to write more porn. Or something like that. If it makes sense!)
And gee, nice to know you feel sorry for me. :p

My Yanagi in ZS asked just about everyone who took this one meme - I think it was some interview meme - what their sexual fantasies were. I was so amused by it, and most of the reactions were shocked/scandalized/etc and I think only a few responded with it. I should find the link for you. :D
But that and this got me to thinking. Most of us never give our characters - RP or in fic - that much thought, to figure out sexual fantasies or kinks. And most of those that do go very typical - for instance, taking Niou and Yagyuu's entire switch and putting it into sex and adding nothing else to it. And the bondage thing is old. :/ Not everyone thinks about bondage; there are other kinks out there.
