Re: (me to Noey)

For me, that was easy! It's a me vs. the world mentality, but the smart people know that you can't just survive on your own. You do need the support. They'd protect themselves, but they would also extend that protection to their team (in essence, their team is an extension of themselves, which is especially true for Rikkai I think). It's just on the courts where they have to think about the other person and it's just them vs. that other person - there is no outside help, no one to back you up.

I'd say that it's only on the court where they have that me vs. the world mentality, but obviously they've thought outside of that on the court, dropping games and stuff. But still, on those courts, there isn't someone coaching them and giving tips and no one else to catch that ball.

Of course, none of that helps with the doubles things. Unlike a lot of the other teams, they have no dedicated doubles pair. And playing in doubles is quite different than playing a single player match. There is that second person to think about. You need to know their mind, know how they work, and rely on them quite a bit. Essentially, you need to know them well enough to predict moves. They've probably all played double matches together, until they're good enough to support each other in any combination whatsoever. We can't even say one pair would be better than another, because that is not their method. They need to be able to play individually and together, in order to survive in Rikkai, so they had to become a team.

Plus, they do have an alpha member, who kind of dictates what happens. Perhaps they're more of a pack than a team.

If they had to play each other in serious matches, how would they play? Would they all be willing to go all out - those little mind games, subtle tricks and strategies? Would it be pointless because the team all knows each others tennis?
